Description
The Les Paul Standard ‘60s perfectly fuses the much-loved classic features of the early LP’s with the highest standard of modern playability, simultaneously paying loving homage to the model while keeping it fresh and current for today’s players. This guitar has enough vibe and style of the quintessential ‘60s Standard’s to ensure as close to an authentic vintage feel as possible – and plays like a dream.
The construct of this Les Paul Standard ‘60s sticks to spec and Gibson have succeeded in recreating the defining features of its progenitor with an array of tasteful, vintage-style appointments. The resulting guitar feels right, performing with period-correct playability whilst meeting the standards essential to please even the most demanding of modern players.
With its infamous single cut-away solid Mahogany body and carved Maple top, this guitar strikes both a visual and tonal balance that players of all standards – and most styles – will love. One of the standout features is its Mahogany neck and sleek Rosewood fingerboard, a perfectly crafted combination of tonewoods that offer a substantial yet highly comfortable “in hand” physicality. This fret-hand solidity feels great and whilst feeling considerable, is designed to ease tension and reduce stress on the hand, enabling players more freedom to explore the smooth action of this asymmetrical slim tapered neck. The Rosewood fingerboard features 22 medium-jumbo frets that have each graded and levelled to the highest standards using Plek Pro’s amazing technology.
The pleasing vintage ‘Nitro’ nitrocellulose lacquer finish is thinner than the polyurethane finishes of most modern guitars. This classic Nitro lacquer enhances the guitar’s authentic look whilst allowing it to breathe and resonate to its fullest, becoming better and better with age.
Impeccable LP tone is generated by two of Gibson’s brilliant Burstbuckers – a 61R in the neck position and a 61T in the bridge position. These humbucking pickups are capable of more aggression than the standard Burstbuckers and feature unmatched coils to produce full-bodied tones with a soft and sweet lilt and an underlying crunch. You can also achieve smooth, even volume and tone transition courtesy of audio taper potentiometers and orange drop capacitors provide a great level of frequency control without loss of gain.
Gibson has completed this Les Paul Standard ‘60s guitar with vintage-style hardware such as an ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge, an aluminium stop bar tailpiece and Grover Rotomatic tuners that add the perfect touch of vintage class and level of high quality that can only be attributed to a Gibson Les Paul.
