Description
overview and body design
The Polara Deluxe offers an upgraded trim package to the base Polara model, delivering classic aesthetics that recall 1970s design elements with modern enhancements. Where the base Polara model is stripped down, the Polara Deluxe is elevated—including a bound rosewood fingerboard with block inlays, Guild Peak and Chesterfield headstock inlays, Guild compensated stopbar tailpiece, and color options ranging from classic transparent to modern metallic.
hb-2+ humbucker pickups
The HB-2+ pickups are modern extensions of the coveted Guild HB-1 oversized humbuckers, built in a traditional size humbucker with Alnico V magnets. These hot-wound HB-2+ pickups bring an assortment of boutique quality tones with loads of character and voice. The Polara Deluxe has traditional Guild pickup covers featuring Guild’s classic dual rail design, with 2x volume, 2x tone controls and push/pull coil splitting for maximum tonal variety.
mahogany body with ultra-playable set neck design
The Polara Deluxe’s 24 ¾ inch scale length is familiar and friendly to all types of players. A bound rosewood fingerboard and block inlays provide an upgraded look, while the headstock includes Guild’s classic “Peak” and “Chesterfield” inlays. A 12.5 inch radius and vintage soft U neck shape provide comfortable playability up and down the fingerboard.
cherry red, canyon dusk metallic and vintage sunburst gloss finish options
For those looking for the original 1970s look, a transparent Cherry Red finish over the Mahogany body never disappoints. A Vintage Sunburst option brings some of Guild’s hollow body aesthetics to this updated set neck solidbody, with a hand sprayed burst enhancing the body, neck and headstock. The Canyon Dusk metallic finish, one of Guild’s most popular new finishes, pairs perfectly with the nickel hardware and Rosewood fingerboard.
pickup switching
1. Bridge – Hum Canceling – This position has the most “edge” or “bite”. Overwound for a big, powerful tone without sounding too dark, a great tool to push an amp into singing distortion. Perfect for solos or in your face rhythm parts, the HB-2+ humbucker possesses a bold, rich tone that is equally capable in any musical style.
2. Bridge (Coil Split) – Pulling up on the bridge volume knob splits the coils of the bridge humbucker for spanky single-coil tones. This position is great when added clarity is needed. Though lower in output when split, the bridge HB-2+ won’t sound anemic.
3. Bridge (Coil Split) + Neck – This position has a full-frequency, almost acoustic like tone bit with added compression and twang from the split bridge pickup.
4. Bridge + Neck – Hum Canceling – This position combines the tonalities of the neck and bridge humbuckers. Thick, creamy mids, big, round bass and clear trebles make this a great all-around tone.
5. Bridge (Coil Split) + Neck (Coil Split) – Hum Canceling – This position is great for funk with big basses and hollow sounding trebles. This position possesses some of the quack typical of out of phase pickup settings.
6. Bridge + Neck (Coil Split) – A great all-around tone, this position has a similar tone to the full bridge and neck combined but with less emphasized mids. This is a great in-between tone that is warm and full with bell like trebles.
7. Neck (Coil Split) – Pulling up on the neck volume knob splits the coils of the neck humbuck
